How Kate Middleton's job at her family business paved her path as a Royal

June 17, 2022

Kate Middleton is one of the most loved Royals right now. The masses can relate to her humble beginnings and find inspiration in her life journey. Before she became a Royal, Kate Middleton helped her mother in their family business.

Carole Middleton, Kate Middleton’s mother, recently spoke about her family businessman called the Party Pieces. She said that her three children, Piooa, James and Kate were the inspiration behind initiating the business. It was actually Kate’s fifth birthday, and her parents' struggle for finding the right clown plates, which gave Carole the idea to begin something of her own.

Carole exclaimed that the business grew alongside her three kids, and she is a proud owner of Party Pieces. The children divided the business marketing, sourcing and supplying amongst themselves. Pippa worked on the blog, while James did the cakes and Kate developed and worked on the baby and first birthday category.

The three children went ahead to work in the same fields years down the line. Pippa is currently writing for a number of outlets, including the Waitrose Kitchen. James began a marshmallow company and later, a pet food company. Kate’s work in the earlier years in her family business helped lay the foundations for further work for babies and children as a Royal. She launched the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood which aims to focus on children and  babies in their formative years of their life.

Carole also reminisced about the initial years of Party Pieces. She said that she and her husband were both inexperienced youngsters with a growing family. But they had a lot of enthusiasm and drive which made them successful. They took every setback as a learning opportunity and had fun building the business together. The two made the perfect team;doing everything on their own. From taking orders, arranging products, filling up boxes and delivering the orders, the duo worked tirelessly on the business to grow it into what it is today.

The idea of a party supplies business was a novel one back in the day, and the business had to carve their own niche when they began. Carole also said that it was her family which was her biggest supporter and also the fiercest critic. The honest feedback  helped her grow the business and helped her expand and venture into supplying all kinds of celebration pieces.
